A New Way to Serve: The Choice Pantry

Instead of pre-packed boxes, families will walk through a pantry and choose the food that fits their needs—just like a grocery store.

This model:

  • Restores dignity and independence
  • Reduces food waste
  • Supports healthier families

This pantry will empower families to make healthy choices during difficult times.

Before

Families received pre-packed boxes with no choice—regardless of dietary needs or preferences.

After

Families shop pantry shelves freely, selecting items that truly meet their family needs, just like a grocery store.

Joanna

"I am raising seven children on a fixed income, and it can be a constant struggle to keep up with daily needs, bills, and the added worry of putting food on the table. Without The Salvation Army, there have been times when we would not have had enough food to last the entire month. Because of their food pantry, we are able to make it, and food is not something we have to go without."

Miranda

Social Services

By offering a Choice Pantry, we would enhance our community by promoting dignity and empowering individuals to select foods that meet their family needs, dietary restrictions, and preferences, reducing waste while improving overall well-being. Serving seven counties, our organization reaches many rural areas where access to nutritious food is limited. This model allows us to provide a more compassionate, personalized, and respectful experience while strengthening the health and resilience of the communities we serve.
