How We Help

Christmas Assistance

The Salvation Army recognizes that holidays can bring added financial and emotional stress for families in need. We offer a variety of services to help families and individuals make it through more difficult holiday seasons including our Holiday Food Box distribution and The Salvation Army Angel Tree & Toy Shop which bring a brighter holiday to youth in our community.

Emergency Disaster Services

The Salvation Army is ready to serve at a moment's notice whenever disaster strikes. Our local trained team may service in local, state, national and international disasters.

Residential Services

Pathway of Hope

Ready for a change? Pathway of Hope provides individualized services to families that are ready to take action and improve the future for themselves and their children. Families are paired with a case manager that will provide coaching and support in discovering personal strengths and setting goals. Additional opportunities are also offered through connection to needed community resources, as well as, emotional and spiritual support through local volunteers and pastoral care teams, if needed.

Referrals to Other Agencies: The Salvation Army understands that there are many needs in a community and no one organization could possibly meet them all. We collaborate with other local agencies to find the right help in times of crisis.

Financial & Clothing Assistance

Financial Assistance: The Salvation Army provides emergency financial assistance up to $75. This type of assistance can be used for utilities, rent, transportation, prescriptions, etc… Clients can receive this type of financial assistance once a year depending on the case and available funding. Any form of financial assistance depends on community funding and is not guaranteed.

Clothing Vouchers: The Salvation Army can provide clothing vouchers for individuals every 90 days. Our vouchers are good for shopping at the Chalet.

Youth Programs

In addition to our widely known Summer Camping Programs, we also offer youth character building programs Monday-Friday from 3:30pm - 6:00pm including:
Adventure Corps
Sunbeams
Girl Guards

Boys and Girls Club

Fighting Food Insecurity

The Salvation Army food pantry provides groceries for individuals & families in need. Clients can come every 30 days for this service. The pantry is open Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday from 9am-12noon and 1pm-3pm and is also open for emergency purposes. The Salvation Army is also the only pantry in Big Spring that is open after normal work hours. This gives working individuals a chance to come and receive assistance without missing work.

Spiritual Care

The love of God is at the heart of what we do. Our service-oriented approach to faith is shared each Sunday at services throughout the country.
