Augusta-area nonprofits to benefit from grants
The Salvation Army is set to receive $75,000 to convert the Center of Hope emergency shelter from an overnight-only to a 24-hour emergency shelter in order to protect the homeless population from infection.
"Honestly, it's the single largest gift we've received during our COVID-19 response. We're feeding more than we ever have with three meals and two snacks a day and offering tutoring for children," Maj. Douglas McClure, Salvation Army of Augusta area commander, said.
