Georgia Power and The Salvation Army Celebrate 40 Years of Project SHARE
Milestone Marks Four Decades of Service and a Renewed Vision for the Future
ATLANTA, GA – Georgia Power and The Salvation Army proudly commemorate the 40th anniversary of Project SHARE. This transformative partnership has provided life-changing assistance to individuals and families facing crisis across Georgia since 1985.
For 40 years, Project SHARE has delivered more than $91 million in critical aid to over one million Georgians, offering a lifeline through financial hardship. From emergency utility assistance to housing support, the program continues to be a trusted source of hope and stability across the state.
“Project SHARE embodies the spirit of partnership and community, enabling us to provide resources that truly change lives,” said Major John Murphy, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army of Georgia. “This milestone is a testament to the generosity of Georgia Power and their customers, and the dedication of both organizations to serving Georgia families in need.”
The 40th anniversary will be marked by a statewide campaign that not only celebrates the legacy of Project SHARE, but also casts a bold vision for the future—expanding public engagement, increasing visibility, and deepening the impact of this vital program for generations to come.
Georgia Power customers play a pivotal role in the program’s success, with thousands choosing to donate directly through their monthly utility bills—knowing their gift goes even further thanks to Georgia Power’s 150% match.
“As we celebrate 40 years of impact, we’re inspired to look ahead to the next 40 years of neighbors helping neighbors,” said Chimaobi Chijioke, Vice President of Customer Services for Georgia Power. “Together, we can continue to uplift communities and meet the evolving needs of Georgia families. Project SHARE reflects our enduring belief in being ‘A Citizen Wherever We Serve’—a commitment that has guided Georgia Power for more than a century. ”
The anniversary campaign will shine a spotlight on the stories of those whose lives have been changed by Project SHARE—putting a face to the impact and inviting Georgians across the state to get involved.
