BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - As the holidays near, a familiar sound returns to South Mississippi, and the country. The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign is underway.

Volunteers will be stationed outside local stores, ringing bells and asking for donations to be dropped in the Red Kettles.

The campaign is one of the largest fundraisers for the Salvation Army. Donations raised each year serve more than 25 million people.

The nonprofit says donations are disbursed to families in need during Christmas and are also used to help out year-round.

The Salvation Army also has an Angel Tree program, where you can help fulfill a child’s Christmas wishlist.
