VETERAN SERVICES

Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF)

The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program is dedicated to assisting veterans and their families who are at risk of becoming homeless or currently experiencing homelessness.  Specialized services offered include health care system navigation, financial assistance, housing navigation, legal services, and help with transportation.  The SSVF program administered by The Salvation Army in Kentucky covers the following counties:  Ballard, Carlisle, Hickman, Fulton, Graves, Calloway, Marshall, Trigg, Christian, Todd, McCracken, Livingston, Crittenden, Lyon, Caldwell, and Hopkins.

Three staff members, including a Program Director, Enrollment and Outreach Specialist, and Case Management Specialist, are dedicated to the Madisonville Area SSVF program.  They work hand-in-hand with area veterans to provide case management and supportive services to prevent the imminent loss of the veteran's home or identify a new, more suitable housing situation for the veteran and his or her family.

Veterans are the Backbone of Our Nation

With roughly 8.4% of Kentucky's veterans living in poverty, the goal of the new Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVP) program is to stabilize veterans and their families in housing, while providing ongoing support as needed to sustain independent living.

Those who fought to protect us often find themselves battling loneliness and depression years after returning home.  Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), drug and alcohol addiction, and homelessness have caused those who gave everything to lose everything.  That’s why The Salvation Army Madisonville is committed to standing beside those who stood up for us.

Gary's Story

With the help of trained Salvation Army staff, Gary found the desire, strength, and tools to turn his life around. He’s rekindled hope and purpose through his service to others. He still struggles with invisible injuries, but has learned not just to cope but overcome this obstacle.

If you are a Veteran needing assistance, please call (270) 709-6000 or complete the following form and one of our SSVF Case Specialists should reach out to you within 24 business hours:
