The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church.
Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God.
To preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
Founded in London in 1865, The Salvation Army quickly circled the globe — going into the streets to minister to the poor and destitute — and now serves in 127 countries. Over the next several decades, The Salvation Army grew rapidly. Programs evolved to meet changing needs, but remained focused on “Sharing God’s love by serving others.”

Advisory Council members are community representatives who provide valuable assistance and advice in support of The Salvation Army’s mission to “preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination”.
The Salvation Army relies heavily on council members’ advice and community outreach, and their ability to financially and prayerfully support the programs that are Doing the Most Good and providing HOPE for those in the most need throughout Sevier & Cocke Counties. These representatives are of different age groups, races, religions, interests, and expertise.
The Advisory Council is charged with the responsibility of advising and assisting The Salvation Army in all its activities in a particular community. The community may have a corps community center as the only Salvation Army facility, or it may have many corps community centers, a divisional headquarters, a rehabilitation center, or other centers of operation.
Currently seeking community professionals who are interested in providing HOPE through The Salvation Army by becoming an Advisory Board Member
