The Salvation Army Launches Mobile Food Program to Feed Youth in Grady & Caddo Counties
The Salvation Army is proud to announce the launch of our mobile food program for Grady & Caddo Counties, which aims to provide much-needed support to children in underserved areas when schools are closed. Through this program, The Salvation Army takes the Canteen out to neighborhoods and provide meals for children who may otherwise go hungry.
Our program goes beyond just providing meals; we also send food home with the children so that they have something to eat when they are not in school. We want to ensure that these children have access to food at all times, even when school is out.
This program is made possible thanks to our partnership with Save The Children, a grant we received last summer. With their support, we are able to reach more children in need and make a greater impact on their lives.
Our inspiration for this program comes from the personal experiences of Chickasha Corps Officer, Lt. Crystal McFarland. Prior to her time in the foster care system and before her eventual adoption, her brother had to scramble to find food for their family. The Salvation Army knows that there are countless other children in similar situations, and we are committed to helping them in any way we can.
At The Salvation Army, we believe that no child should ever have to go hungry. Our mobile food program is just one way that we are working to ensure that every child in Grady & Caddo Counties has access to the food they need to grow and thrive.
We encourage the community to support this program, either through donations or volunteering. With your help, we can make a difference in the lives of children in underserved areas and ensure that they have the resources they need to succeed.
