BRANDON IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR!

Feb 27, 2020

Due to heavy snowfall and being homeless, Brandon came to The Salvation Army.  He stated, due to drugs, he had nowhere to turn and had burned bridges with family.  “I was hopeless. I was taking my anger out on everyone because of the drugs.” He can’t believe the person he had become.  He was panhandling, stealing from stores for food and even eating out garbage cans. “I wanted to go to work and keep a job, but due to drugs, I couldn’t do it.” Brandon knew to survive not only the snowstorm but the life he was living, he needed help.

“The guys were so encouraging. I knew it would benefit me in the long run because it helped others.”

Brandon turned to The Salvation Army. “When I first walked through the doors, I thought I can’t do it,” Brandon shared. Then Brandon noticed, “The guys were so encouraging. I knew it would benefit me in the long run because it helped others.” Knowing it would be a difficult journey, Brandon stayed and began to believe in himself. Though there were times he wanted to quit, now was different. Brandon began to understand he wasn’t alone on this journey. “God stepped in and wouldn’t allow me to quit.” Quitting was no longer an option for Brandon.  Through the help of staff and officers at The Salvation Army, Brandon became a changed man.

Brandon shared, “Today, I am more open-minded to become the man God wanted me to be.  I want to thank The Salvation Army for being here because if it were not here, I would probably be dead somewhere.”

Brandon is worth fighting for! Thanks to the continued support of the Baton Rouge community, we were there for Brandon.  However, there are many more just like Brandon, who need hope and deserve second chances. But we can not fight this fight for good alone.  We need you and your help!
