How We Help

The Salvation Army has been supporting those in need in the United States for 135 years and Central Arkansas since 1896. Nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through a broad array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. Of every dollar received, 82 cents is used in direct services; in Central Arkansas our meager budget of just over $2 million impacted the lives of over 14,000 separate individuals last year.

Even though The Salvation Army is known as the largest social services organization in the world, each Corps stands as an independent unit. This means that each Corps is responsible for determining how to best care for the needs of the community we serve as well as raising the necessary funds for those efforts. The funds committed locally stay in the community except for only a small percentage that goes to cover the costs of support and oversight services.

The Salvation Army recognizes that holidays can bring added financial and emotional stress for families in need. We offer a variety of services to help families and individuals make it through more difficult holiday seasons.

Helping the Homeless

At The Salvation Army, we have an open door policy when it comes to those needing help with housing - whether they need a place to rest their head inside our doors or need help finding a way to stay in their own home. All are welcome, and every night, we help thousands of men, women, youth and children sleep safely and dream of a better tomorrow.

Where We Serve

We are The Salvation Army of Central Arkansas, which serves communities in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway and Saline County. We’re one of four Area Commands in the Arkansas & Oklahoma Division and part of an International organization, headquartered in London.

Salvation Army territories are made up of areas of service known as divisions. There are 40 divisions in the U.S. – we oversee 8 of them. Divisions consist of centers for worship and service. These are the hubs where service to members of the community actually occurs. Our doors are open to all.

Quality Services

The Salvation Army of Central Arkansas conducts an internal process that provides review of all programs to ensure client satisfaction, program quality and that The Salvation Army National Social Services Standards are being followed with the oversight of an licensed Social Worker.
