John's Journey with The Salvation Army

Oct 21, 2024 | by Barbara Daniel

John*, a single father of two, found himself in difficult times after a sudden layoff. With no steady income, he struggled to provide for his children, especially when it came to putting food on the table. He had heard about The Salvation Army and decided to reach out, hoping they could help. From the moment he arrived, he was struck by the professionalism and kindness of the staff. "They are very professional and kind to everyone that comes here," John recalls, reflecting on his first experience with the organization.

The support he received went far beyond just food. The Salvation Army became a lifeline for John and his family in multiple ways. They referred him to work force training programs, helping him take steps toward employment, and provided utility assistance to keep the lights on at home during his most challenging moments. "They helped with every situation that I needed assistance with, food, work force training referral, and utility assistance," John shares.

For John, the assistance from The Salvation Army means everything. As a single father raising two children, knowing that he can depend on them brings him peace of mind. "I can depend on Salvation Army when I can't depend on anyone else. Thank God for them," he says, expressing his deep gratitude. The organization has been there for him and his family when they needed it most, offering hope and stability in uncertain times.
