Helping People Today, Building a Better Tomorrow

How We Meet Local Needs

how we meet local needs

Assess the Need

FIRST, we assess the needs of each community in which we serve. We work to understand the obstacles, hardships, and challenges native to the area's particular population.

Build the Programs

NEXT, we build local programs designed to offer immediate relief, short-term care, and long-term growth in the areas that will best benefit the community.

Invest in the Community

THEN, we offer the local programs to the local community, working to continually optimize their efficacy via spiritual, physical, and emotional service.

Emergency Financial Aid

The Salvation Army offers emergency financial aid programs to assist individuals and families facing financial hardships. Our aid is available for utility bills, housing expenses, and other necessary expenses, based on funding availability. We are dedicated to supporting those in need, helping them find a path towards financial stability.

Emergency Disaster Services

When a disaster strikes, The Salvation Army is quick to respond by mobilizing its officers, employees, and volunteers. We provide vital services such as food and drink, emotional and spiritual care to those affected by the disaster and emergency responders. Our goal is to provide prompt assistance to those in need, wherever they are, and help them recover from the traumatic experience. Learn More Here

Youth Programs

The Salvation Army is committed to providing a nurturing and secure environment for young individuals to thrive, exemplified through our TreeHouse Kids and AMP (Arts & Music Program) initiatives. We believe that every youth deserves the opportunity to play, learn, and grow in a setting that fosters their spiritual, emotional, and social development. Through these programs, we strive to create a haven where young minds can explore their potential, form meaningful connections, and build essential life skills.

Fighting Food Insecurity

The Salvation Army recognizes the devastating effects of hunger and is dedicated to helping individuals and families who are struggling to put food on the table. Through various programs and services, such as client choice food pantries and nightly community meals, we provide assistance to all who are in need.

Holiday Assistance Programs

The Salvation Army provides assistance during Christmas to families facing financial and emotional stress. We offer programs like Angel Tree and seasonal food assistance to help individuals make it through difficult times. The Salvation Army is committed to supporting those in need during the Christmas season and beyond.

The "Shoes, Socks & Skivvies" program is a vital initiative aimed at bridging a significant gap in our community, particularly for school-aged children in need of fundamental clothing essentials. Recognizing the importance of a strong start to the new school year, this program provides items that go beyond mere clothing, as they offer a sense of confidence and dignity to youth who might otherwise grapple with insecurity related to their appearance. By ensuring access to essential clothing items such as shoes, socks, and undergarments, "Shoes, Socks & Skivvies" plays a crucial role in empowering our youth and fostering a supportive community environment.

The "Hope on Wheels" program is a mobile feeding effort tailored to meet the needs of individuals in Caddo County by delivering assistance directly to an individual's location. This program operates in sync with the academic calendar, aligning its delivery schedule with school breaks such as fall and spring breaks. "Hope on Wheels" strives to alleviate food insecurity by supplying families with a food box containing essential ingredients for meal preparation. Furthermore, to ensure immediate nourishment, each delivery includes a prepared hot meal, enhancing the program's holistic approach to addressing hunger in our community.
