The Salvation Army of Clarksville will hold their largest annual fundraiser, the Champions of Hope Luncheon & Silent Auction, on Thursday, September 15. The event is being held at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center, and will feature guest speaker, retired Salvation Army officer, Lt. Col. Eddie Hobgood. Hobgood served for 38 years as a Salvation Army Officer, including an appointment in 2012 to the International Headquarters in London, England, where he spearheaded the Army’s 150th anniversary celebration.
“After a couple of years of interruptions of these events due to the pandemic, it’s great to be able to get together with our supporters in the community and share all the great things going on with The Salvation Army here,” said Lieutenant Andrew Lewis, Corps Officer in Clarksville.
Individual tickets to the event are free to the public, and corporate sponsorships are still available. The lunch will start at 12:30pm on September 15 and will be followed by the silent auction. All funds raised will help fund The Salvation Army’s mission-driven ministries in Montgomery, Stewart, and Houston counties.
“Because of our supporters continued generosity, in 2021, The Salvation Army of Clarksville was able to provide 3,863 nights of shelter, 8,806 hot meals, and 3,382 items of clothing to those most in need in our community,” said Lt. Lewis. “With inflation this year, the need is even greater. We are confident that the community will step up to meet that need at this event.”
