The Salvation Army Needs Food Donations
Families Turning to Food Pantries for Help
MS Gulf Coast (June 12, 2025) – The Salvation Army is seeing the food pantry items dwindle as families look for assistance to feed their kids over the summer. The Center of Hope in Gulfport and Pascagoula is calling on the public to help restock its food pantry and support ongoing relief efforts. On average the Center of Hope serves 400 families a month on the coast.
The Salvation Army relies on community donations to meet the demand. Major Friday encourages everyone to get involved by donating non-perishable food items or participating in food drives.
“When someone comes to us hungry, we want to make sure we have something to give,” said Stacy Crandle, Social Services Director. “Even a simple item like peanut butter, rice, or canned fruit can help nourish a family in need.”
“Donating to your local food pantry is one of the easiest and most impactful ways to support your neighbors,” said Major Friday. “We’re thankful for every donation we receive, and we know our community will continue to show up with compassion and generosity.”
Shelf stable food donations can be dropped off during operating hours at 2019 22nd St., Gulfport or at 3808 Arlington St., Pascagoula. Monetary gifts can be mailed to the same address or given online at www.salvationarmymscoast.org.
