National Salvation Army Week, May 11-17, 2026
Honoring the Work and Ministry of The Salvation Army on the MS Gulf Coast
Mississippi Gulf Coast (May 8, 2026) - The Salvation Army is excited to celebrate National Salvation Army Week on the coast from May 11 to May 17, 2026. For over 160 years, the organization has been dedicated to helping individuals and families in crisis, providing help and hope for our neighbors experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, and financial hardship. Locally, we have been serving the community for over 100 years.
National Salvation Army Week was first proclaimed by U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower on November 24, 1954, to honor the organization's service and remind Americans to give generously. Today, The Salvation Army works in more than 133 countries worldwide. In the USA, The Salvation Army is issuing a rallying cry for Americans to "Give with joy."
