The Salvation Army’s Center of Hope in Gulfport Seeks Volunteers and Donations for Cold Weather Shelter

For Immediate Release [January 22, 2025] Mississippi Gulf Coast – As freezing temperatures and hazardous conditions persist across the region, The Salvation Army’s Center of Hope in Gulfport is opening its doors to provide 24-hours a day emergency shelter for those in need. In response to the winter storm, The Salvation Army is seeking volunteer monitors and food donations to help sustain shelter operations and ensure the safety of those seeking warmth and shelter.

“With bridges out and travel conditions challenging, we are relying on the generosity of our community to provide essential support during this critical time,” said Major Jerry Friday, Area Commander at The Salvation Army MS Gulf Coast. “Every volunteer and donation makes a significant impact in helping us care for the most vulnerable.”

Those willing to assist are encouraged to contact the Center of Hope at 228-374-8301 to coordinate volunteer efforts or arrange donation drop-offs.

The Salvation Army MS Gulf Coast is committed to providing warmth and safety to those in need, but it cannot do so without the help of the community.

For more information on how to support The Salvation Army’s efforts, please call 228-374-8301.
