When hard times hit, The Salvation Army is here to help meet basic needs for individuals and families in our community. Whether you need a bag of groceries to get through the week, a meal, a warm bed or assistance paying an outstanding bill. The Salvation Army Social Services Center representative is ready to help.

Rapid Re-housing programs (financial assistance):

  • Provides Financial assistance to households who have become homeless and require short or Mid-Term assistance to be able to regain housing stability Clients/households are referred by the Coordinated Entry system and thru the hotline from the City of San Antonio. Case Management is required to participate in this programs.

Food assistance:

  • Provides emergency food assistance to families and single households in the community. No appointment necessary. Must have a valid ID.

Homeless meal assistance:

  • Provides a sack lunch for those who are homeless. Meals are available Monday through Friday from 11 am to 1 pm. No appointment necessary.

Financial Assistance for Utility & Water:

  • Provides financial limited assistance to households to prevent disconnection of services. Account must have an outstanding balance. (assistance is strict to veterans only)

Financial Assistance Rent for Veterans:

  • Provides Financial assistance to veterans who are struggling to pay their rent or mortgages (assistance is strict to veterans only). Visit Veterans page for more details.

  • We no longer take disaster referrals from Red Cross
  • Clothing and furniture vouchers
  • Utility, deposit and rental assistance for civilians
  • Hotel/motel vouchers
  • Greyhound bus tickets nor traveler's aid
  • Gas vouchers
