Texas City Club Member Hits All the Right Notes
Mareena is thankful for The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club in Texas City and the positive impact it is having on her family.
Initially, she signed up her daughter, Miranda, for the after-school program so she would no longer have to wait in the long pick-up line each day at the school. The Boys & Girls Club staff pick up children from several schools and Mareena thought it would be easier to collect her daughter at the Club. However, it quickly became clear that the Club was much more than simply a convenient pickup location.
Miranda enjoyed attending the Club and benefited from the various classes and activities. The staff recognized she was a talented singer and began working with her individually. After singing a solo at the Christmas Showcase, Miranda was invited to sing the National Anthem at a United Way Mainland event. She has also participated in public musical performances with other club members.
Since attending the Club, Mareena says that her daughter’s confidence has grown, and she is noticeably more confident. “I think the Boys & Girls Club is beneficial because they help our children grow in education, responsibility, and the development of talent,” said Mareena. “The support the children receive on a daily basis helps them mature and learn to enjoy activities with other kids their own age.”
Mareena is grateful to the Club staff for their commitment and dedication along with the generous donors who make it possible for Miranda, and many other children, to attend The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club.
