Film Camp Partnering with "The Chosen" in its Third Year

Jun 19, 2024 | by Brad Rowland

The Camp Hoblitzelle Fine Arts Conservatory (CHFA) returns for the third time from July 21-31, 2024 in Midlothian, Texas. In partnership with “The Chosen” and Out of Order Studios, students will grow through hands-on experience and collaboration with industry professionals through two major tracks — Film and Theatre.

The theatre track will encompass live performance, musical theatre, choreography, acting and more, with the film track focusing on cinematography, lighting, directing, and editing. In addition to the expansion to ten full days of instruction, the age range for delegates has also grown to ages 13-25, allowing for young adults to gain practical experience.

“Even if you’ve already done some schooling, this is going to be a tremendous add-on and sharpen the skills you’ve been developing and the education that you have now,” said Dallas Jenkins, creator and director of “The Chosen.”

“This is something you really want to consider,” Jenkins said. “It’s hardcore. It’s immediate. It’s urgent. There’s a lot packed into a short amount of time, which is often times the way to learn the best. That’s how film and TV and theatre are. There’s a lot going on at once.”

Space is limited for CHFA, and registration information can be found at camphoblitzelle.com/chfa.

“We really want the kids to learn the basic skills of filmmaking,” said Chris Juen, co-executive producer of “The Chosen.” “We’re exposing them to high-end tools, processes, people who are professionals who have been in the industry a long time. But honestly, it’s more about letting them know that not only can they follow a dream of being in film, but they can also do it while honoring Christ.”
