Serve Veterans

PTSD, self-medication, substance & alcohol abuse, and homelessness have made our country’s bravest far too vulnerable. We provide aid and assistance for Veterans in need. The Salvation Army’s social services are actively engaged in preventing homelessness among Veterans and offering other services to support them. Our Veteran’s food pantry provides meals for Veterans. The Salvation Army has a long history of serving our veterans.

The Salvation Army’s ministry to veterans began with serving coffee and doughnuts to soldiers during World War I. Today, we serve hundreds of thousands of veterans in need every year, providing comfort, support, counseling, shelter, and more. While many veterans struggle to find their way in the years following their service, we strive to show our gratitude by serving them, loving them, and meeting their specific needs

of thousands of veterans through:

Shelters

Our doors are open to all. And when veterans find themselves without a place to call home, it is our honor to provide them with a bed, a hot meal, employment assistance, and a new lease on life.

Adult Rehabilitation Centers

In addition to the mental stress of past service, veterans with PTSD also often struggle with drug and alcohol abuse. But through the faith-based recovery and work programs at our Adult Rehabilitation Centers, those veterans can begin to mend their broken lives and return once again to their families.

Community

Later in life, veterans can find themselves battling loneliness and depression. At The Salvation Army, we are committed to seeking out and walking beside those veterans, providing for their specific needs, whether that be wheelchair assistance, phone cards to call home, large print Bibles, or a friendly smile and an afternoon of companionship.
