How We Help

In 2017 Alabama Power and the rural electric cooperatives formed a partnership with The Salvation Army Greater Birmingham Area Command to administer the Project SHARE (Service to Help Alabamians with Relief on Energy) program in the state of Alabama.

Give Hope in Your Community

Emergencies and challenging economic times often make it difficult for people to acquire food, shelter, clothing and medical supplies or even pay their utility bills. But programs like Project SHARE provide a way for you to help those truly in need.

Requirements for Assistance

In order to qualify for Project SHARE the applicant must be 60 years of age or older or a disabled Alabamian.

Here's How You Can Help

Project SHARE is funded primarily by contributions from the customers of Alabama Power Company. Customers simply pledge to donate $1, $2, $5, $10 or any other whole-dollar amount to Project SHARE by checking the box on their monthly utility bill. This amount is automatically added to each monthly bill, and all such donations will be forwarded to The Salvation Army. Project SHARE provides emergency energy assistance to elderly and disabled Alabamians in peak winter and summer months. The program assists Alabamians in 57 counties statewide.

You can help your neighbors by supporting Project SHARE.
Donate via your Alabama Power online account.

You can also mail your donation to:
Project SHARE
P.O. Box 11005
Birmingham, AL 35202

You can apply for assistance from Project SHARE at your local Project SHARE Office. Please see the list below for the local office in your county or you can call 205-328-2420 and press extension number 2 to get the contact information of your local Project SHARE office.
