Volunteer With Us

From its inception, The Salvation Army has relied heavily on volunteers who support its programs. Often referred to as "the army behind the Army," volunteers play a crucial role in The Salvation Army's ability to provide quality social services for the entire community.

Approximately one-and-a-half million volunteers throughout the United States dramatically extend The Salvation Army's ability to serve those in need.

Through the skills and experience that volunteers bring to The Salvation Army, they make significant contributions to society by positivity impacting the lives of those they assist. Volunteers for The Salvation Army change lives, uplift families, and support communities throughout our nation every day.

FEEDING PROGRAMS

Individuals, families, and groups (no more than ten at a time) are welcome to help serve a meal to the homeless at The Salvation Army any day of the week. Dinner is served daily around 3 p.m. We ask that volunteers notify us a week before they would like to serve and arrive 30 minutes before the shift.

THRIFT STORE

Volunteers are needed in the The Salvation Army's Thrift Stores in Mobile and Baldwin counties! Volunteers are needed to help set up displays, sort donations, and price items. We have two store locations: 

  • Azalea Road Thrift Store- 1216 Azalea Road, Mobile; Store hours are 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday.

  • Foley Thrift Store-2015 McKenzie Avenue, Foley; Store hours are 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday.

COMMUNITY DRIVES

The Salvation Army is always in need of canned and dry foods! We serve meals every day to the homeless and our clients. If your family, student, or organization is looking for a service project, this is an opportunity that would fill a genuine need. We also are always in need of toiletries. Individual and travel-size toiletries, socks, t-shirts, or underwear are a great way to left spirits!

BEAUTIFICATION PROJECTS

The Salvation Army takes pride in our neighborhoods and strives to keep our property tidy- but we need help! We need volunteers to help us plant flowers and beautify our outside areas at our Dauphin Street location and our Thrift Stores. Great opportunity for families or organizations looking for a service project!

 

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Special projects or individual opportunities can be determined based on a volunteer's or a group's skills. Feel free to offer your ideas and desires to help those in need.

WHAT'S YOUR SPECIALTY?

Accounting- Help us count our Red Kettle Campaign income.

Education- Help us with creative arts, childcare, and tutoring for our homeless children and youth groups.
