The Salvation Army’s 6th Annual Music & Arts Conservatory will be held this summer from June 10, 2024 through July 7, 2024 at the Corps & Community Center at 4900 Hercules Ave, El Paso, TX 79904. Aside from the $30 registration fee, the program is free. That means free music and arts lessons, free loaner instruments, free snacks, free meals, and free field trips.
This is a four-week educational program for children ages 8-14. Each morning begins with snacks and a devotional thought before warming up for the day’s lessons and activities. Students attend daily brass classes, with both beginner and intermediate levels available. Other classes include music theory, choir, and drama. Students will perform at two concerts. The first concert will be on Sunday, June 30, and the graduation concert will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2024.
Many children have talent that will never be developed because their parents can't afford lessons, instruments, or other supplies. If cultivated, this talent could one day provide a springboard to a better life. Schools with music programs have an estimated 90.2% graduation rate, compared to 72.9% at schools without music programs. Students who participate in band or orchestra have the lowest levels of current lifelong use of tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs among any group in our society.
The Salvation Army provides music education to children to broaden their fine arts horizons. Their passion for music can be developed at our music program. By focusing on in-depth musical training and spiritual development, we give them a foundation for growth.
