LAWTON, OK — The holiday spirit was in full swing on Tuesday, December 3, as KSWO 7News hosted its 8th annual “Share Your Christmas” event. This initiative combines a food and toy drive aimed at supporting local charities and bringing joy to families in need during the festive season.

The event, which ran from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., was held at all three Walmart locations across Lawton. Food donations collected were split equally between The Salvation Army and the Lawton Food Bank, while toy donations will help fulfill wishes for children in The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program.

Each location had its unique features, ranging from large red kettles to mobile feeding units serving hot cocoa and coffee. The community was serenaded by The Salvation Army’s brass band, and a bus from the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club was stationed at one site.

Captains Bryan and Tracy Brinlee, who recently moved to Lawton from Hot Springs in June, expressed

gratitude for the outpouring of support. “This is our first Christmas season in Lawton, and to see the giving is absolutely amazing,” said Captain Bryan Brinlee. He added, “Our shelves were bare just a few weeks ago. Now, we will have plenty of food to serve people for the next few months.”

The generosity of the Lawton community was evident, with donations coming in faster than ever before. One of the trucks filled up in record time, underscoring the community’s commitment to making a difference. Both The Salvation Army and the Lawton Food Bank extended heartfelt thanks to the residents for their unwavering support.

“Share Your Christmas” continues to be a beacon of hope and kindness, reminding everyone of the power of community during the holiday season.
