Prayer Request

 

Amongst spiraling oak trees along Claiborne Avenue sits the New Orleans Citadel Corps, or church, where God is worshipped in the spirit of joy and where His people are nurtured and loved. Our mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and provide an inviting atmosphere to learn more about the Bible and our spiritual selves through Sunday school, worship service, Bible study, character-building for children, and many other activities throughout the year.

Worship Opportunities

Sunday School -The Salvation Army adheres to the truths of the Bible. Sunday School  lessons are taught from the Old and New Testaments.

Holiness Meetings -This is our Sunday morning worship service. The emphasis is on  how a Christian should live both in devotion to God and in service to mankind.            

Salvation Meeting -This is our Sunday night evangelistic service. The emphasis is generally on inviting people to seek forgiveness in Christ.

Mid-Week Worship Meeting -This is our Wednesday Bible Study centered around the application of God’s word to daily living. It is generally an informal meeting.

 

 

Adult Programs

Women’s Ministry (Home League) -The Home League is open to women 16 and older. It is based on a fourfold Program of Worship, Education, Fellowship, and Service.
 
Men’s Fellowship Club - The Men’s Club is very informal and is open to men ages 16 and older. Worship, fellowship, recreation, and service is a regular part of their program.
 
Band - The Salvation Army has an active brass band program for both young people and adults. Band classes are given for beginners. All Army music is performed for the Honor and glory of God.

 

 

Youth Programs

Junior Soldiers - This is a Bible study, leadership, and The Salvation Army history program for young people ages 7-12.

Corps Cadets - This is a five-year Bible and leadership course for young people grades 7 and up. Weekly lessons and monthly testing are required.

Sunbeams -This is a scouting-type program for younger girls in grades 1-5 where they earn badges and learn useful things to help them in their daily lives.

Girl Guards - This is for older girls in grades 6-12. Girl Guards helps young ladies to find their place in today’s fast pace and changing world.

Adventure Corps - This is the Army’s boys program where badges are earned for various skills, crafts, and leadership programs. Members participate in worship, sporting events, and community projects.

B+ ESL (English as second language classes) after school program -This is a free after school program focusing on children with limited English skills. Homework assistance and English classes, along with gym activities, crafts and more are offered throughout the school year.

Summer Camp - Running from June 1 to August 1, the Corps hosts fun and creative outdoor and indoor activities for children. Registration begins April 24, 2023; $25 per child to register with a weekly camp fee of $50 per child. Fee includes lunch and two snacks daily. Scholarships are available.
