Every community is different, and The Salvation Army works to meet the greatest need in each.
Fueled by love, we bring hope, healing, and help to the most vulnerable members of society.
When it comes to the needs of different communities, one size definitely doesn’t fit all. That’s why The Salvation Army’s structure allows for each location to meet the very distinct challenges that are faced by the people in its own area. Where homelessness might be particularly troubling in one area, another might be experiencing an increase in drug addiction or hunger.
And because we as an organization are so focused on meeting the needs of each community in which we serve, we believe your donations should help your neighbors. Rest assured that for our grassroots services, each dollar, item, or hour of time you donate will go directly to helping your own community’s brothers and sisters in need.
We also seek to partner with other local businesses in ways that will benefit their communities as well. You know best what’s needed in your community. We’re here to facilitate that.
Here are some ways we have customized programs and services to do the most good in neighborhoods just like yours across the country.
In Nampa, Idaho, the Home At Last Rapid Rehousing Program quickly transitions families from emergency shelter into local houses or apartments. The program is designed to help families overcome the significant barriers and challenges that prevent them from living in permanent housing.
The Way In youth shelter in Los Angeles was founded to help children escape Hollywood street life and provide a homelike environment in which abused and/or neglected teenagers could live safely as they matured into productive and independent young adults.
The Dauphin Way Lodge in coastal Alabama is a substance abuse treatment program that works with the local Parole Office and is certified by the Alabama Department of Mental Health to provide multiple levels of substance abuse treatment services.
The Salvation Army of Las Vegas is home to the SEEDS of Hope program, a partnership with the FBI and numerous community service providers to identify, rescue, and restore victims of all forms of human trafficking.
The Safety Dorm opened in 2013 and is the only shelter facility with a primary focus on transgender housing needs in Clark County, Nevada. The recently expanded facility provides a safe and comfortable space for 18 LGBTQ+ individuals who do not feel safe in other shelters.
The Salvation Army’s Disaster Relief Services are some of the first on the ground and the last to leave areas where hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and wildfires devastate local communities..
In providing its programs and services, The Salvation Army is committed to accommodating all those in need without unlawful discrimination or harassment based on age, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, marital status, disability, citizenship, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or any other characteristic in accordance with our capacity to help.
