The Northwest Arkansas Area Command operates two Housing-Focused Shelters in Northwest Arkansas.
one in Bentonville and one in Fayetteville.

These shelters are open 365 nights a year. Between our two shelters, we have 82 beds.

Our Housing-Focused Shelter is designed to help individuals obtain and maintain safe, affordable housing. Once an individual checks into our shelter, our intake specialist will meet with them to discuss their needs. They are given an assessment used to evaluate their vulnerability level to ensure we are helping them in the best way possible. The client is then able to meet with our housing manager to complete the necessary steps to find a home.

We serve free meals each evening at both locations and breakfast in Bentonville. Meals are open to anyone in the community. Our shelters are meant to be a temporary option. We work with guests on a case-by-case basis to meet needs and find permanent housing. If you know of a need, please contact us.

FAYETTEVILLE SHELTER
Check-in for the Fayetteville shelter is from 4:30-9:00 PM. Dinner is available for anyone in the community at 5:00 PM.

BENTONVILLE SHELTER
Check-in for the Bentonville shelter is from 5:00-9:00 PM. Dinner is available for anyone in the community at 6:00 PM.

COOLING CENTERS
During the hot summer months, we open our shelter doors as a cooling center whenever the heat index is 95 degrees or higher for the local area. We check local forecast to determine this. Our cooling center in Fayetteville is located in our Activity Center.  In Bentonville, this is located in our shelter dining/community area.

WARMING CENTER
When windchill temperature is 34 degrees or below we open our cold-weather warming centers. This helps keep people safe and warm in critical temperatures. Even if our shelter beds are full, we create space and provide cots and blankets to people needing a warm place to stay during the day and night.
