Amplify Austin 2023
On March 1-2, The Salvation Army participated in Amplify Austin Day, a 24-hour day of giving hosted by I Live Here I Give Here. This event is Central Texas’ largest day of giving and facilitates local donations that invest in the Austin community. This year, The Salvation Army Austin was blessed to have Jeremy and Celia, a local couple, offer to match the first $30,000 in donations!
Jeremy and Celia have a unique bond with The Salvation Army. In 2011, they were victims of the Bastrop wildfires, which destroyed their home shortly after their home insurance was canceled. In this time of devastation and crisis, they looked to The Salvation Army for help, and were provided with water, grocery store gift cards, and access to a warehouse of goods. They recall The Salvation Army being the first and last organization that stood by them during this difficult time.
“In our time of crisis, The Salvation Army was the only organization that was present, prepared, and proactive. They helped us get back on our feet,” Celia said.
With the ability to give back now, Jeremy and Celia have made a commitment to support those in their community who are in need by donating their resources. Their recent gift was directed as matching funds for Amplify Austin Day and helped The Salvation Army raise a grand total of $85,851 from 262 donors in just 24 hours.
We, at The Salvation Army, extend our greatest gratitude to Jeremy, Celia, and all who donated on Amplify Austin Day. Donations received will provide shelter, food, case-management, and other critical resources to local families experiencing homelessness. We appreciate your continued support, and are committed to "Doing The Most Good,” so every story can be as successful as Jeremy and Celia’s.
