Austin Shelter For Women and Children

DONATE TODAY

The Austin Shelter for Women and Children (ASWC) is a low barrier, housing- focused emergency shelter serving women and dependent children experiencing homelessness. Case management, rapid rehousing services, employment assistance, a computer learning lab, child care, and child/family therapy are provided on-site. In partnership with the City of Austin, The Salvation Army has operated ASWC since 2001. It was built in 1935 and renovated in 2018 with City of Austin bond funding. Through the renovation, capacity was increased to 81 beds, a new day care center was built, and ADA improvements and facility upgrades were added. The architectural design of the renovation project received recognition from the American Institute of Architects. The ASWC is an award-winning shelter that has also been recognized by The Salvation Army as one of its highest performing programs.

The Salvation Army of Austin is proud to have partnered with the Austin Diaper Bank since 2015 to receive diapers, adult supplies, period products and wipes for the families we serve and are very grateful for the services that they continue to provide to the shelter every year.
