Day of Giving 2022

Sep 22, 2022

The Salvation Army Austin held our second annual Day of Giving on Wednesday, August 24. We started the day with a goal of raising $1,000,000 for our neighbors in crisis. Through the support of our sponsors, donations to Day of Giving were matched 3-to-1, tripling the impact of one’s gift. With overwhelming generosity from our community, we exceeded our goal, raising a total of $1,093,113 for families experiencing homelessness in Austin.

To get the word out about our Day of Giving, we partnered with some of the largest Central Texas radio and television networks: Audacy Media, Waterloo Media, KVUE, and iHeart Radio. We ended the day with a total of seven hours of radio coverage and 90 minutes of TV coverage. The TV coverage included a 30-minute KVUE segment, exclusively dedicated to The Salvation Army Austin.

We are so grateful for everyone who volunteered, donated, and engaged with us on social and local media. You helped make this day a success, but more importantly you helped to provide critical resources, a safe place to sleep, and hot meals for families living in shelter. Donations also support case management, rapid rehousing services, employment assistance, and therapy for these families as they work to regain self-sufficiency.

All funds raised on Day of Giving will be used to provide support for families in crisis on their journey from homelessness to safe housing. However, our work doesn’t end here. There are still many more people in the Austin area experiencing homelessness, and our waitlists grow each day. Generous donations and volunteers ensure we provide shelter resources to those in need year-round.
