Salvation Army of Austin Accepting Bottled Water Donations

Jul 14, 2020

AUSTIN, Texas. (July 14, 2020) – In response to the record-breaking heat in Central Texas, The Salvation Army of Austin is accepting bottled water donations. Tuesday was the sixth consecutive day above 100 degrees in Austin, and the National Weather Service predicts the streak is likely continue through the end of the week.

“This type of heat can have deadly consequences for those experiencing homelessness,” said Major Lewis Reckline, Austin Area Commander for The Salvation Army. “Having access to clean drinking water is imperative, especially given the extreme heat and humidity in Texas. We are encouraging people to donate bottle water to ensure those with the most need can stay hydrated.”

The Salvation Army of Austin is accepting bottled water donations at the following locations during regular business hours, through the end of August:

  • The Salvation Army’s Social Services Center
    • 501 E. 8th St. Austin, TX 78704
  • The Salvation Army’s Citadel Corps
    • 4700 Manor Rd. Austin, TX 78723
