AAMCO St. Marys helps a neighbor in need
ST. MARYS, GA (January 3, 2016) – The Salvation Army of St Marys would like to recognize AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care of St Marys, Georgia as the first "Be a Shield" partner!
As a partner, AAMCO generously donated a vehicle inspection and associated repairs to Debra Duckworth, a Pathway of Hope client. Through Pathway of Hope, Ms. Duckworth and her Case Manager work together to set and meet achievable, realistic goals on her road to sufficiency. Ms. Duckworth is reliant on her vehicle to transport her to her appointments and GED tutoring sessions, so when the vehicle started having mechanical issues, AAMCO owner John Thomas, Shop Manager RJ, and the kind staff at AAMCO jumped in to assist. We appreciate AAMCO's support in making a difference in our community members’ lives.
Pathway of Hope is part of a larger nationwide initiative to move families from crisis and vulnerability to stability and eventually sufficiency while tracking progress along the way. The mission of Pathway of Hope is: "To provide enhanced services to families that are ready to take action to break the cycle of poverty for their children and generations to come."
Families with at least one child and a desire to take action may qualify to take part in Pathway of Hope. The program will accept up to 10 qualified families over the next year and work with those families to overcome obstacles, break down barriers, and achieve goals. Each family may face different obstacles, but through dedicated case work, training and support, clients will be able to sustain themselves without assistance.
