The Salvation Army of Johnson City exits to meet human need wherever, whenever, and however we can.
Center of Hope Shelter
The Salvation Army Center of Hope shelter in Johnson City, TN has two main shelter programs: an intensive transitional housing program for veterans (15 beds) and an emergency shelter with coaching for individuals experiencing homelessness (33 beds). The shelter is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
Guests in our programs receive individual attention and care as they seek to stabilize and secure permanent housing of their own, as well as three meals and a snack each day, access to educational, spiritual and recreational programs, as well as support securing medical, financial, employment, housing and other services.

Our New, Veteran's Wing Affirms
a Higher Level of Dignity
Designed to ease the transition from homelessness to stable housing,
the new veteran's wing will serves as an essential transition that is much More Than A Bend.
Emergency Financial Assistance
The Salvation Army of Johnson City offers food boxes and utility assistance to eligible families.
Our Emergency Financial Assistance program is made possible by funding from our local community. We are grateful to be a partner agency of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee. We also thank Aldi, Food City and individual givers to our food pantry for their generous in-kind donations that enhance our offerings for our neighbors in need.

Family Store
The Salvation Army Family Store at 1420 East Main Street Johnson City
Store hours Tuesday- Saturday 10 am-5 pm
The Family Store sells quality secondhand furniture, clothing, household goods, and accessories at a low price. While finding bargains and helping your budget, you are helping to serve our neighbors in need as proceeds support The Salvation Army's services in Johnson City, and the counties of Carter, Green and Unicoi.
On Mondays, the store is closed for business, but will accept donations from 10 am - 4 pm.
Mondays are the ONLY day we will take clothing donations until further notice, due to excess donations. We appreciate your understanding.
Fighting food insecurity
In our fight against hunger and food insecurity, we provide over 56 million meals annually through food pantries, meal programs, community gardens, and more.
Spiritual Care
The love of God is at the heart of what we do. Our service-oriented
approach to faith is shared each Sunday at services throughout the country.
