Our Emergency Shelter Services help all residents break the cycle of homelessness and alleviate ongoing crisis by providing shelter, case management support and referrals to other agencies that specialize in the many barriers individuals experiencing homelessness encounter.
Emergency Shelter for Families and Men
Single men and families who are experiencing homelessness
If you are within 3 days of experiencing homelessness, please contact the Homeless Connection Line at 804-972-0813.
Case Management
Our case managers concentrate on helping residents identify problems that may have contributed to their homelessness, including substance abuse, employment and/or education deficiencies, financial mismanagement and mental health. Staff assist each resident in developing realistic goals to overcome their situations. Substance abuse, motivational, and ‘Life Skills Enrichment’ meetings are conducted weekly at the shelter.
Referral Services
Through the Greater Richmond Continuum of Care, we work with partner agencies to assist residents with the services needed to both gain and maintain permanent housing. This may include referrals to agencies to help them obtain permanent housing, treat substance abuse issues and treat mental health issues.
Rent and Utility Assistance
Millions of people across the country are forced into making a choice between things like keeping a roof over their heads and putting food on their familiy's tables.
We believe no one should have to make a decision like that, so we provide rent and mortgage relief to those who need it.
We have always fought to ensure that no one goes without heat in the coldest winters, air conditioning in the brutal summers, or fresh water to drink and bathe in.
If you are within 3 days of losing housing, contact the Homeless Crisis Line for support. The Homeless Connection Line (HCL) is managed by Homeward and is a crucial community resource for those experiencing homelessness or within a few days of losing their current housing. The HCL offers trained Diversion Specialists who can assist households within 3 days of losing their housing to problem-solve, access community resources, and connect to homeless assistance if needed.
The Central Intake System is managed by Homeward. They are the first point of entry into shelter services.
