Employee Spotlight: Daphnie Ferguson

Sep 26, 2022

Daphnie works as the Assistant Manager of the Women’s and Children’s Shelter at The Salvation Army of Greenville. She works daily to help create a space for those staying there that is productive, uplifting, and peaceful. Her daily activities include completing intake sessions, answering phone calls, and dispensing medications, as well as spending one-on-one time with clients to hear their stories and help answer questions.

“My favorite part of my job is interacting with the residents staying with us. I enjoy encouraging them, and I absolutely love to see them become excited with the hope of restarting their lives in a more positive manner,” said Daphnie.

Daphne finds direction and purpose through the Holy Bible, as she says it contains the wonderful story of God’s love for humanity. “It helps me to discover my truest identity. Plus the scriptures inspire and correct me on a daily basis,” she said. One of the Scriptures she reads the most is Romans 8:28:

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to this purpose."

She believes The Salvation Army is important to the community because it provides valuable resources to those who have fallen on hard times or been marginalized from society. “I tell others that our organization provides help to people who need shelter, food, and clothing. Additionally, we offer hope through the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” she shared.

When she’s not working, Daphne enjoys traveling and community involvement, but her greatest passion is ministering to hurting women, teens, and young adults. “I often share my testimony of how God healed my wounded, grieving heart after becoming a widow and single mother at the tender age of 33. At times, my story offers hope and inspiration for those who are emotionally distraught. My journey of restoration serves as a rich source of ministry material for all those I encounter. I founded a mentoring group called ‘RealTalk...I Need Help!’ as a movement that was birthed out of my desire to assist others in finding purpose and direction in their pain.”

In addition to this community service, Daphne is active in her church, Tabernacle Outreach Ministries, and the mentoring program Kings & Kweens, Inc.
