Lynchburg Salvation Army Celebrates National Salvation Army Week with Events for the Community

Lynchburg, VA (May 11, 2018) – The Salvation Army of Lynchburg has several events scheduled in honor of National Salvation Army week, which will be celebrated locally May 14-18 this year.
National Salvation Army week was first declared by President Dwight D Eisenhower in 1954 with this proclamation: "Among Americans, The Salvation Army has long been a symbol of wholehearted dedication to the cause of human brotherhood . . . Their work has been a constant reminder to us all that each of us is neighbor and kin to all Americans, giving freely of themselves, the men and women of The Salvation Army have won the respect of us all."
The Salvation Army of Greater Lynchburg wants to recognize those who help serve our community and those who we serve with these scheduled events for the week:
Tues., May 15: Reentry Job Fair sponsored by Career Support Systems from 10am-3pm in the Salvation Army Community Center Gym located at 2215 Park Ave.
Wed., May 16: Customer Appreciation Day at The Salvation Army Thrift Store located at 116 Court St, Appomattox VA with all items being sold at half off the listed price on this day.
Thurs., May 17: Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon for anyone who has volunteered with The Lynchburg Salvation Army in the last 12-18 months. The event will take place between the times of 11:30 am to 1:30 pm in the Salvation Army Community Center located at 2215 Park Ave.
Fri., May 18: Firefighter, Law Enforcement, Active Military and First Responder Appreciation Day with The Wandering Donut will take place in the parking lot of Timbrook Square Shopping Center on Timberlake Rd. at The Wandering Donut location. All Firefighters, First Responders, Law Enforcement and Active Military will receive a free donut (eligible individuals will need to show an ID card, badge or show up in uniform) in honor of National Salvation Army Week.
