HOMELESS SERVICES AND PREVENTION

The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta offers prevention, refuge, and stability to men, women, and families who find themselves without shelter due to personal and financial circumstances. We provide a variety of housing options including emergency, transitional, and recovery programs – giving individuals support through their current life state.

We treat all people with dignity and respect. We care through prevention, presence, and participation.

Our three shelters offer a total of 500 beds to individuals in need. We provide special accommodations so that families can stay together and address specific needs for the elderly, veterans, individuals battling addiction, and the LGBT community.

In addition to a safe place to sleep, our shelters offer services including meals, laundry, rehabilitation, and spiritual counseling to help guide individuals to a more productive future. Our homelessness prevention programs include:

Red Shield: A 324-bed facility in downtown Atlanta that provides homeless men, women, families, and veterans a warm bed, safe place to stay, and two meals a day

Re-Housing Programs: Short and long-term programs at sites throughout metro Atlanta, offering financial assistance for qualifying families after leaving the shelter

William Booth Towers: 100 units of housing for low-income elderly, handicapped, and disabled persons

Veterans on the Move: 3-month residential substance abuse program for homeless veterans with an honorable discharge

The Harbor Light: 3-month residential recovery program

Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC): 6-month rehab program for men
