HOMELESS SERVICES AND PREVENTION

The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta offers prevention, refuge, and stability to men, women, and families who find themselves without shelter or at risk of losing shelter due to personal and financial circumstances. We provide a variety of housing options including homelessness prevention, emergency and transitional housing, re-housing programs, low-income housing, and residential recovery programs – giving individuals support through their current life state.

We treat all people with dignity and respect. We care through prevention, presence, and participation.

Our housing services provide special accommodations so that families can stay together and address specific needs for the elderly, veterans, individuals battling addiction, and the LGBTQ community.

In addition to a safe place to sleep, we offer services including meals, laundry, rehabilitation, and spiritual counseling to help guide individuals to a more productive future. The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta housing services:

Red Shield: A 324-bed facility in downtown Atlanta that provides homeless men, women, families, and veterans a warm bed, safe place to stay, and two meals a day. Programs offered at Red Shield include:

Housing/Re-Housing Programs: Short and long-term programs at sites throughout metro Atlanta, offering financial assistance for qualifying families after leaving the shelter

Veterans on the Move: Shelter, substance abuse treatment, and bridge housing for veterans experiencing housing instability

Harbor Light: 3-month residential addiction recovery program
