From Homeless to a New Home
From Homeless to a New Home
Ms. J. Smith is a 45-year-old widow with 3 children. Her husband passed away from cancer last year. Ms. Smith was faced with homelessness shortly after the death of her husband.
Ms. Smith and her family found themselves having to move out of their family home of 8 years after the death of dad/husband. The family moved into a shelter called Homeless No More where the mom found shelter and asked for help. The shelter helped Ms. Smith go online to SAHELP to apply for assistance in helping her family secure a home. Ms. Smith connected with The Salvation Army via SAHELP.org. The Salvation Army staff and Ms. Smith started working on getting Ms. Smith and her children out of the homeless shelter and into a home. Ms. Smith came to The Salvation Army seeking help on April 28, 2025. Ms. Smith and her children will be moving into their new home on May 5,2025 from the shelter.
Ms. Smith states that she can see their new home will give them what they need. Comfort, safety, and the opportunity for her children to attend school on a regular basis. Ms. Smith is looking forward to her children being able to settle in and start moving forward with healing, with education, and not having to worry about where will they sleep tonight
