The women's auxiliary raised enough funds to purchase 65 3-D printed instruments for five of the Corps' children's music ministry.

WOMEN’S AUXILIARY OF WASHINGTON DC

The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary of Washington, D.C., in cooperation with the Advisory Board, strives to create public interest in and support for the dedicated service of The Salvation Army to our community, of which it has become a vital part.

Mrs. John Allen Doughtery was the founder of the D.C. Women’s Auxiliary, and its first recorded meeting was held in February 1948. A group of about a dozen women formed the nucleus of the organization, which is in the ensuing years achieved a membership of over 600. The activities of the Auxiliary have increased over the years and much has been accomplished for the benefit of the Army.

Our goal is to continue growing the organization through membership, raise and provide necessary funds to support the Army and meet the needs of the community in the best way possible. We cannot do this without you!

Membership in the Women's Auxiliary is open to all who wish to serve their community. In addition to the various service projects, we offer participation in a number of committees. Each Member is encouraged to select at least one area of interest.

Types of Membership include:

Regular Members who actively participate in service programs.

Life Members enjoy all the privileges of Regular Members and pay no further dues, only an annual postage fee.

Benefactor Members, both individual and corporations, contribute annually at a special level to enable the Women's Auxiliary to support its numerous service projects.

Legacy Members are forward-thinking women who provide an enduring support for programs dedicated to the deserving children in the greater DC Community.

Thanks to the incredible fundraising and dedication of The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, the Learning and Play Center at our Turning Point Center for Women and Children has been beautifully updated for 2025. First opened in 2000 and last renovated in 2013, the space now features refreshed, developmentally appropriate rooms designed to nurture growth, creativity, and joy. These updates will serve children and their mothers for years to come.
