From Shelter Resident to Shelter Manager: Katrina's Inspirational Journey
Katrina's life took an unexpected turn when she arrived at The Salvation Army Emergency Shelter with her young son. Facing homelessness and a recent pregnancy, she felt lost and unsure of her future. However, the support and encouragement she received from the staff at the shelter changed everything. "This place never gave up on me," Katrina recalls. "They saw my potential and refused to let me quit."
With the guidance of TSA staff, Katrina embarked on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Throughout her time at The Salvation Army , she gained the tools and confidence needed to rebuild her life. "They believed in me when I couldn't see a way forward," she says. "One year later, I've proved that I can stand on my own two feet and I can survive against all the odds"
Determined to pay it forward, Katrina joined the team at the Fayetteville shelter, where she now serves as the housing manager. In her role, she provides guidance and support to individuals facing similar challenges to those she once faced. "I understand the struggles firsthand," she explains. "Now, I'm honored to help others overcome them and find stability. Anything is possible when you have the right people in your corner"
