May's Volunteer Spotlight
Volunteer Spotlight:Mayra Monge
For the past eight years, Mayra Monge has been a faithful volunteer at The Salvation Army Women and Children’s Center, which she describes as “a refuge and a new beginning for families experiencing homelessness.”
Week after week, Mayra shows up with one goal: to be present. She offers a kind word, a listening ear, and the type of steady encouragement that reminds others they’re not alone. Her quiet service has touched the lives of countless women and children, not through grand gestures, but through genuine connection.
“It is a blessing for me to be able to spend time with the kids every month and put a smile on those beautiful faces. I truly believe we can make this world a better place and we can start with the kids, our future generations” Mayra Monge shared.
In a world that moves fast,” Mayra reminds us of the power of simply being there. Her eight years of service reflect the kind of long-term commitment that makes real, lasting impact in the lives of those we serve.
