More Than A Night Indoors

At The Salvation Army Center of Hope in Johnson City, a bed is just the beginning.

Every guest who enters our shelter is met with structured support and a personalized plan designed to move them forward. With the help of their case manager, our guests work on setting a structure for stability as they look for their right-fit home. They increase their incomes and savings, secure basic documents, join sobriety communities, receive medical attention, and improve their health.

Working on housing and stability at the same time is key in their journey home. As a Mission Essential partner, your support means our guests receive more than a night’s reprieve. Instead of a pit stop, your support enables us to walk alongside them on the journey home—because there’s no place like home.

From Shelter to Home

James

James, a disabled veteran, came to The Salvation Army of Johnson City at one of the lowest points of his life. Struggling with depression and chronic pain linked to his military service, he became homeless with no income or savings. At the Center of Hope, James found stability, medical care, ongoing therapy, and a clear path forward. Today, he is housed, receiving VA disability benefits, and rebuilding both his health and his faith. He credits The Salvation Army with giving him the foundation he needed to get his life back on track.
