HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR CHILDREN'S OBEDIENCE

One of the essential principles to teach limits and parameters to our children is this; "First relationship and then correction". As parents, it is indisputable that the job of training our children leads to the tacit task of discipline. However, correction without relationship leads to exasperation and sometimes even rebellion.

In this post, we touch on very important points about how to train our children in obedience and how important it is for them to understand the meaning of the phrase "unconditional love" of so that the foundations of security and trust in their lives and in their relationships are clear. Without this, any attempt at correction and discipline can not only be sterile but produce in them a self-justification mentality.

The Key To Correction Is The Relationship Because The Child Must Understand That Everything We Do For Them Comes From Love, Even When We Correct.

The key to correction is the relationship because the child must understand that everything we do for them comes from love, even when we correct. The idea is that they obey us out of love and not out of fear of punishment, because nothing that is built on the foundations of fear lasts, the only thing that never ceases to be is love.

God pronounced this famous phrase over Jesus; "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased". Jesus was first affirmed by the love of the Father before beginning his ministry. Our children need to know that we love them independently of their behaviors. Now, love is responsibility and we have to teach them that where there is love, there are actions expressed in obedience.

MEDITATE ON THIS:

How much have you understood God's unconditional love for you?

How do you relate to God? In love or in fear? By grace or by your actions?

This security in the love you want your child to experience, have you found it in God? Is there an area of insecurity in your life where you need God to reveal His love?

Every day at The Salvation Army Memphis, we create strong relationships with all the children in our shelter. They feel secure as we provide meals, after-school tutoring, and a safe environment for them sleep.

By donating just $7 today, you will be able to provide a safe environment for a child today.
