OFFICERS TRANSITIONING
OFFICERS TRANSITIONING
This month, we are saying goodbye to several beloved Salvation Army officers as they move on to serve new roles at other area commands while also welcoming new officers from across the country.
Lieutenants Harold and Eunice Gitau will report to Harrisonburg, VA, to serve as corps officers after two years in Memphis.
“Farewells are the hardest part of officership where we leave behind great relationships, friends and families,” the Gitaus said. “As we transition to Harrisonburg, VA, we will always treasure the two years that God allowed us to serve in Memphis. In the Salvation Army, we never say ‘bye.’”
Three years after coming to Memphis, Lieutenants Hoon and Judy Chung have been appointed to Louisville, KY, to serve as corps officers of the Louisville (South) Corps.
“We fell in love with this city from the moment we moved here, and we will dearly miss the relationships that we have built,” Lt. Judy Chung said. “We’ve had the opportunity to walk alongside some amazing people and got to see the Lord open doors for them and also how He’s worked miracles on their behalf.”
Majors Tim and Eileen Farrell, who have overseen our Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) for the last two years, will transfer to the ARC in Tampa, Florida.
“We understand fully when the Army calls, you go,” said Major Eileen Farrell. “Our time at the ARC has been oh so fruitful as we have had the privilege of serving alongside men and women in recovery and have been allowed to lead them to Jesus.”
We are excited to welcome Captain Maureen Diffley, who is currently a corps officer in Maryville, TN, and will report to the Purdue Center of Hope; Lieutenants Noah and Bailey Lind of Evangeline Booth College, in Atlanta, GA, have been appointed to the Kroc Corps; and Captains Allen and Patricia Adkins, are bringing their leadership from Baltimore, MD.
