RED SHIELD TRIBUNE: AUGUST 2022 | VOL 6
A Special Note From Lauren Foster
I want to thank each and every one of you for the respect, dedication, and kindness you have shown towards me during my time at The Salvation Army of Memphis & the Mid-South. As of the publishing of this volume, I have resigned from my position as the Community Relations Coordinator. I will be starting a new journey in my career, and as excited as I am for that, I am also sad to be saying goodbye to such a wonderful organization and the people involved in it. The volunteers (YOU!) have made each event, outing, and opportunity so special. Getting to see the passion you all put into our mission has been so inspiring.
Moving forward, you can contact Aaron Keegan at aaron.keegan@uss.salvationarmy.org or 901-260-9120 with any questions you have.
I am looking forward to seeing you all continue to grow the mission of The Salvation Army for many years to come! Thank you for all you do!
CAMP HOPE ENDS...SCHOOL BEGINS!
As Camp Hope is coming to an end on August 4th, our kids are preparing to head back to school. We are praying for a year full of excitement, confidence, and most importantly, knowledge.
Our campers have gotten to experience so many incredible things this summer, and we pray that these memories will last a lifetime, long after they leave the Purdue Center of Hope.
We are also preparing to give others in our community that are struggling the chance to be prepared for a great school year. On August 5th, we will be hosting our Back 2 School event at the Kroc Center, led by our new Kroc Officers - Major Ray and Captain Shalanda Jackson.
In partnership with Walmart, we are helping local families in need get the school supplies necessary for their children. While all volunteer slots are now filled, you can help by visiting our registry HERE and purchasing supplies for our event.
Another unique way to help is by hosting your own collection drive for school supplies. You can create your own list of needs based off of our registry, set up and host the drive, and then drop those supplies off at the Purdue Center of Hope or Kroc Center! If you're interested in hosting a collection drive, please reach out and we would love to give you more information!
