Kettle365 Telethon Recap

We want to say THANK YOU for a huge success at our 2nd Kettle365 Telethon! We had a great turnout with volunteers, and we raised over $16,000 for women and children residing at the Purdue Center of Hope. We truly could not have done it without everyone who called or went online to donate, called upon their friends to donate, shared our posts, and tuned into the live coverage of the day. We can't wait until next year!

UPCOMING EVENTS

We are honoring the Collierville Rotary Club for this month's Beyond the Season volunteer highlight. The Collierville Rotary Club volunteers every year as Bell Ringers for our Red Kettle Campaign, held in November and December. As the days draw closer to Christmas and the end of the Kettle season each year, they increase their ringing at the Collierville Kroger on New Byhalia Rd. They even have the Collierville High School's Interact Club ringing with them. In 2021, they rang for a total of 184 hours, bringing in $36,234. Their efforts earned them Top Bell Ringer Awards for Most Hours Rang by a Group AND Most Funds Raised by a Group.

At our Kettle365 Telethon on May 19th, we presented the Collierville Rotary Club with the awards live on WREG. Dave Rhylander accepted the awards and gave an interview with WREG about the rotary club's volunteer history with the Salvation Army of Memphis.

"I never knew what I was missing, until I started doing this. Some people tell you stories about how The Salvation Army’s impacted their family life. Anybody that I know it’s their first time they’ve rang, I ask them, tell me about your experience today, and they all come out and say I never realized this thing was so positive. I mean, the experience of doing this is just unbelievable. So I think if you’ve never rang the Salvation Army bell, you ought to step up and do it one time. Just see what this does." —Dave Rhylander, Rotarian and Past President

"We feel like we’re doing something special out there. One lady told me, she said, you know, years ago, my father came here from, I think it was Europe, The Salvation Army gave him a leg up and let him stay there. They gave him meals until he got a job and got on his feet. And we hear stories like that all the time out there." —Larry Boyd, Rotarian

CHRISTMAS IS COMING

We all know what the sign of the iconic Red Kettle means... it's Christmas time! While we're not bringing out the kettles, bells, and aprons just yet, we're steadily making plans for our 2022 Red Kettle Campaign. We hope to have our best Christmas yet, with new ideas and new memories to be made.

Be on the lookout for more details over the coming months. Registration will open in early November 2022. We hope you will join us in the excitement as we prepare for the Christmas season.
