RED SHIELD TRIBUNE: MARCH 2022 | VOL 1

Mar 1, 2022

WHAT IS LOVE BEYOND?

Love Beyond is an invitation to join The Salvation Army in helping suffering humanity. It’s a reminder to love others beyond all else.

Many people think of The Salvation Army as bell ringers and Red Kettles at Christmas. Few know the role the organization plays in helping suffering humanity throughout the year.

We appreciate each volunteer we have during the Christmas season, but our efforts do not stop when the trees are taken down. This monthly newsletter will serve as a way to keep you engaged with our efforts and opportunities all year. We invite you to join us alongside our events outside of Christmas.

Please reach out to Lauren Foster, Community Relations Coordinator for any questions or more information at lauren.foster@uss.salvationarmy.org.

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION WEEK

Volunteer Appreciation Week is coming up on April 17 – 23. We'll be highlighting our incredible volunteers that help further our mission every day. We could not do what we do without you. Whether it's handing out meals, ringing a bell, sorting in our Angel Tree warehouse, tutoring at the Purdue Center of Hope, and beyond, you are individually making a difference in Memphis. For that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Volunteer Appreciation Week - April 17 – 23

A week dedicated to highlighting and appreciating our volunteers and all that they do for the community and the Memphis Area Command.

National Salvation Army Week - May 9 – 13

This week is set aside to remind or inform the country of the comprehensive nature of the services we provide to help people in need in your community. We will also have volunteer opportunities this week.

Kettle365 Telethon - May 19

The Salvation Army is known for our ringing bells and iconic red kettles at Christmastime, but the reality is, need knows no season — and many of our neighbors are struggling. More information to come on how you can volunteer.

National Donut Day - June 3

National Donut Day commemorates the “donut lassies,” female Salvation Army volunteers who provided writing supplies, stamps, clothes-mending and home-cooked meals, and of course, donuts, for soldiers on the front lines.
