RED SHIELD TRIBUNE: NOVEMBER 2022 | VOL 8
kettle kick-off concert!
Our 2022 Red Kettle Kick-off Concert is right around the corner. Join us for a night of entertaining performances of your favorite Christmas songs from Stax Music Academy, and experience nationally recognized artist Jessica Haas as she paints an original piece for the Salvation Army live!
This year's concert will be on November 13 at the Kroc Community Center (800. E. Pkwy. S.) beginning at 5 pm.
Following the concert, attendees will be welcomed to refreshments, and they will get to participate in a silent auction with a chance to bid on Haas’s paintings.
Guests are also being encouraged to bring one toy that will be donated towards this year's Angel Tree Program.
We can't wait to see you at this year's free Red Kettle Kick-off concert! RSVP to reserve your seat: here.
tis the season to volunteer
Our Angel Tree Program and Red Kettle Campaign are back, and we need volunteers to help make this Christmas season a joyful one for families in need in our community.
Angel Tree Registration wrapped up in October, and now we are prepared to receive gifts for angels who are adopted through angeltreememphis.org. This means we will be busy sorting gifts and distributing them ahead of Christmas Day. If you are interested in helping with the Angel Tree process, sign up using our new volunteer site here.
This Christmas, you can also volunteer as a bellringer at our red kettles to help raise funds that go towards The Salvation Army's services supporting women and children all year-round.
The Red Kettle Campaign is one of the oldest fundraising campaigns in the country, and the arrival of the red kettle has become a staple in our community during the holiday season.

behind the red shield
We’ve launched a podcast! Behind the Red Shield goes behind the scenes and shares the stories of the people doing the daily work to achieve The Salvation Army’s mission - which is to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
Our first two episodes include conversations with The Purdue Center of Hope's Social Services Director, Sharon Cash, and Memphis Area Commander Lorie Hunter. They share about how they got involved with The Salvation Army and their decades of service they've helping families facing generational hardships.
