Employee Spotlight: Bryan Hayes

May 9, 2023

Take a walk through The Salvation Army’s Boys & Girls Club at the Kroc Center in Greenville, and you’re most likely to see dozens of school-aged children playing games, receiving homework help from trusted mentors, practicing musical instruments and much more. Bryan Hayes, Area Director for the Boys & Girls Club in Greenville, takes great pride in helping provide quality out-of-school-time enrichment programming for children in the community.

The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club offers a safe, affordable place for young people to spend time when they’re not in school. Led by paid, youth development professionals, children have a chance to play, laugh, learn and have fun, in a nurturing, positive environment.

Bryan says he draws the most inspiration for his work at the Boys & Girls Club from his father. “I watched my father for more than 40 years serve as a teacher, administrator and missionary and touch so many lives throughout his career,” said Bryan.

Bryan wanted to work with The Salvation Army through the Boys & Girls Club because he believes in its mission and purpose in the community, and admires the organization’s century-old presence in Greenville. “I believe The Salvation Army is a beacon of light in our community,” said Bryan. “I’ve heard so many stories from people sharing with me how The Salvation Army has helped them. Now, I have children in our Boys & Girls Club whose parents also attended and participated in our program.”

In addition to overseeing the Boys & Girls Club afterschool and summer enrichment programs, Bryan also manages the Boys & Girls Club Council. The Council is a committee of community volunteers dedicated to helping ensure the children receive the best possible learning and mentoring experience during their time in the program.

When he’s not working, Bryan enjoys spending time with his family. “I love playing all kinds of sports and hiking. Right now, my favorite hobby sport is playing in disc golf tournaments with my son,” said Bryan.

We are grateful for Bryan’s leadership and dedication to helping children in Greenville succeed. For more information about The Salvation Army’s Boys & Girls Club, visit https://krocgreenville.org/KrocGreenville/boys--girls-club.
