Employee Spotlight: Sarah Finley

Jan 10, 2023

After spending 13 years as a professional cook, Sarah Finley found a different career path. For almost five years, she’s served as the Resident Manager of The Salvation Army of Greenville’s emergency shelter program.

There, she manages the day-to-day needs of the shelter’s residents and coordinates with the Resident Advocates to ensure clients are working towards meeting their set goals. She also assists with packing and distributing food boxes for people in Greenville experiencing food insecurity and provides clothing vouchers weekly for those in need.

Sarah says, “I love working with the people at The Salvation Army. I tell others how much this organization has opened my eyes to the needs people are facing in our community every day. I’ve lost track of how many times our clients have returned to tell us thank you for providing them with a safe place to rest, food to eat, or financial services counseling after they’d fallen on hard times. The Salvation Army does amazing things for people who need assistance getting back on their feet.”

Sarah’s favorite quote is, “Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.” She says her mother inspires her the most. “My mom took me in when I was six weeks old, and three years later, did the same for my baby sister. She was the most amazing woman I’ve ever met, and I strive daily to be the woman she raised me to be.”

When she’s not working, you’ll most likely find Sarah spending time with her family and friends, who she says mean the world to her.
